Sign up or login to HawkEye at http://portal.appscale.com

  1. If you already have an App Engine App ID, go to step 5.
  2. To obtain an App Engine App ID, visit: https://appengine.google.com/.
    • Login with the same Google account you used when you signed up for the portal.
    • Create a unique App Engine application ID by clicking “Create Application”. The application Title may be the same as your application ID or different. Use the default Authentication Options and click on the “Create Application”.
  3. This step is optional.
  4. You can upload an application under your newly created App Engine App ID. To do so:

    • Download the Google App Engine SDK for Python from here (You will need to have Python 2.7 installed).
    • Download a version of the App Engine App “guestbook” by running:
      git clone https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/appengine-guestbook-python.git
(You will need to have git installed)
    • Upload guestbook by running:
      <path-to-google-appengine-sdk>/appcfg.py --oauth2 -A <your-new-app-ID> update <path-to-appengine-guestbook-python>
    • Visit your app at https://<your-app-id>.appspot.com
  5. You can now return to the portal.
  6. Log in to the portal here. Add your App Engine App ID (e.g. "guestbook") and click “Start”.
  7. You will be redirected to a Google page asking for permission to access your account. Click “Accept”.
  8. You will now be redirected back to the dashboard. The process of deploying HawkEye for your application ID has started.
  9. After HawkEye has been successfully deployed your application tile in the dashboard becomes active.
  10. In the meantime, you can browse the rest of the portal.
  11. As soon as HawkEye is up and running graphs will appear in the API Status page. These graphs are updated constantly and show you the status of the App Engine APIs as well as errors that may occur.
