Woody RollinsChief Executive Officer
Woody is passionate about enabling technology, coaching great teams and building successful companies. He most recently was the founding CEO and co-founder of Eucalyptus Systems. Eucalyptus defined the on-premise infrastructure as a service (IaaS) category and is the market leader in private cloud.
Over the past twenty years, Woody has served as a senior executive with companies that have been leaders in innovation. In 2004, Woody co-founded Old Firehouse Capital and successfully executed a business model to leverage the developing turmoil in real estate capital markets. Prior to that, Woody was involved in industries as diverse as art to auto parts, leveraging technology to change the status quo of mature markets.
Woody is a graduate of The Carroll School of Management at Boston College. Woody lives in Santa Barbara with his family, is an avid car enthusiast, live music junkie and reader of everything.
Graziano ObertelliVP of Operations
Graziano is responsible for implementing the policies and strategies identified by AppScale the executive team. In particular, Graziano leads and supports the Engineering Team.
His interest in cloud computing started with research in fault tolerant distributed systems at U.C. San Diego. From there he moved to U.C. Santa Barbara to join a research group studying high-performance Grid computing and immediately prior to his position at AppScale Systems, Graziano co-founded the leading enterprise private cloud solution: Eucalyptus Systems.
Always interested in open source, Graziano is active in the Linux and open source cloud software communities. When not engaged in changing the way the world computes, he can often be found touring around on his motorcycle or wrenching on an old car or two.
Chandra KrintzChief Scientist
Chandra Krintz is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). She joined the UCSB faculty in 2001 after receiving her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Chandra has led a number of different research projects that have advanced the state-of-the-art in programming systems in ways that improve performance and energy consumption, and that ease development and deployment of software. Recently, her work has targeted distributed and multi-language runtime systems and cloud platforms. Chandra has advised over 60 undergraduate and graduate students, is the author of numerous research articles regarding the implementation of programming languages, participates in efforts to broaden participation in computing, and is the progenitor of the AppScale project.
Navraj ChohanLead Engineer
Raj is an expert software engineer with a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB). Raj graduated under the mentorship of Professor Chandra Krintz. Together with Chris and Chandra, Raj started AppScale as a university project and spun it up into a software company.
In his spare time, Raj enjoys playing basketball, lifting weights, flying kites and flexing in front of his mirror.
Margaret VanSicklenDirector of Marketing
Margaret, a graduate of Mills College and Parsons School of Design, began her career on the traditional side of advertising reinventing and launching brands. In 2000, she struck out in a new direction with an idea for an Origami Page-A-Day Calendar. With over a million in print the calendar’s success lead to two more books published by Workman Publishing and another with Harry N. Abrams. Margaret now brings her branding and creative marketing experience to AppScale, where she will help move this innovative technology to the marketplace.
Tyler KrebsDirector of Business Development
Tyler is responsible for the Business Development & Partner Products at AppScale, he helps drive the company's partnership strategy and product integrations. Tyler loves using the enormity of the Internet to bring people together. Before joining AppScale, Tyler founded Social Gratitude, an online reputation agency, where he oversaw the expansion of the company's customer portfolio and partner strategy. Prior to Social Gratitude, Tyler was a Project Lead and Senior Analyst at a private equity advisory firm, focusing primarily on strategy and operations cases for technology companies. Tyler is a graduate from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Jovan ChohanSenior Developer
Jovan is a talented software engineer with an Electrical and Computer Engineering degree from University of California, Santa Barbara. Jovan graduated in 2010 and has been working in the industry since then. Jovan prides himself on writing well tested, production quality software.
In his spare time, Jovan enjoys watching and playing basketball, hanging out at the beach, working out and eating delicious food.
